At Thanksgiving, Matt and I asked Reid if we could host a senior party for him. He pretty quickly said...I really don't want to party...just not my thing. We understood but still kind of wanted to do something for him. Fast forward a couple months...my
sister-in-law and I were talking and came up with the idea to host a dinner for his closest friends and family before his senior piano recital. So...that is what we did and it was the most perfect party for Reid.
I kind of struggled with the the "theme", but I think it ended up being the perfect music/school color mix. I felt it needed to be somewhat nice as we were serving a sit down dinner on china.
One cake is missing in this picture...we had a carrot cake, chocolate chip pound cake (for Reid), and a coconut cake. I wasn't really sure but it was perfect...all three of them were eaten.
This empty room was quickly filled with about 40 people who wanted to share in this special time with Reid. He is loved by so many...
Reid with his girlfriend, Madeleine...
Reid with his closest friends...
Like I said, a room full of family...
And a room full of good friends...
The dinner menu was a few of Reid's favorites...ceasar salad, pork tenderloin, green beans, hashbrown casserole, and rolls.
Reid opened one of his presents at the party because his piano teacher wanted to see him open it...she knew what was in the box and had a feeling Reid would be pretty excited.
All of his Aunts/Uncles went in together and bought him this guitar as a graduation gift...supposedly it was something he really wanted.
One proud Nanna...
After dinner, we went to his senior recital. He has been taking piano from the same teacher since 1st grade.
Since it was his senior recital he played a few more pieces than everyone else, and he also played the guitar.
And Madeleine sang while he played one song...
Ms. Terri presenting him with his senior gift...
And we ended the night in tears as Ms. Terri played a recording of 7 year old Reid introducing himself at his first recital and then listening to him play his piece. But wow...what a special night celebrating with our Reid!!!
