Nanna's 69th Birthday...

Yesterday I only worked half a day so I could pick the kids up when they got out of school and go to Brookhaven to surprise Nanna on her 69th birthday.  Pulling off a surprise is always challenging, but Nanna was pretty surprised when she opened the door to two little cuties holding balloons for her!!!

We let Nanna pick where she wanted to eat birthday dinner...we were not shocked when she picked a place she could get a good salad, steak, and potato (her favorite).

After dinner, we came back to Nanna's house for birthday cake...

I had such a special relationship with my grandmother, and I'm thankful that these two have the same relationship with my mom that I had with hers.

Something about singing happy birthday is just fun...smiles all around!!!

I'm sure sister was doing something funny...

No opening presents or blowing out candles without Cooper's help...he loves being in the middle of birthday celebrations!

Such a fun night with Nanna...we love celebrating birthdays and look forward to celebrating many more with her!!!

Flag Football Championship...

This past Tuesday night Cooper's undefeated flag football team played in the championship.  And let's just be honest...I know it is just kid, church league football, but I was still a little nervous.  The season had been so fun, and I just wanted them to finish it out with a win.  On the way, Cooper said..."I'm a little nervous".  Matt the "calm" one said, "Cooper, it's just a game...go play it like you play any other game."  And he did just that...we couldn't be more proud of how he played and how "big" he played this season.

All smiles as he was warming up...they boy is just in his "happy" place when he is on any field...

He played up only because we signed him up late...but...it was such a good learning experience for him, and he improved so much.  Matt was really impressed with how much his catching improved...

The coach found the perfect position for him...rusher on defense.  He "job" was to attack the quarterback.  He may not have pulled his flag before he threw every time, but he was for sure in his face and distracted him/made him throw it quicker than he wanted.

And no, I do NOT dress him...he does all this craziness on his own.  It's just who he is.  His newest thing...the tights.

In sports, you just never know what kind of coach you are going to get.  This is one of those seasons where we loved the coach and would be happy to play with him every season.  Couldn't have asked for better...

Thought I would miss soccer but honestly, I loved flag football just as much.  It helps that 99.9% of the time, Cooper gives it his all and makes it fun to watch him play.

Love his sweet face...the smile of a champion!!!

These boys played hard all season and walked away the 3rd/4th grade undefeated champions!!!

Getting his championship ring...yes, I said ring!!!

If you cannot tell, he is one proud little dude!!!

Such a fun flag football season with a great group of little boys!!!

ASC Championship 20 Year Reunion...

Yesterday we spent the day at MC...it was Homecoming and Matt's ASC Championship 20 year reunion.  We had anxiously been awaiting the day as we would get to spend the day with many of our college friends and their families.  And what a wonderful day it was...

These two boys hit it off immediately...

Ramsey and Cooper took off to the bouncy house, games, and pick up football game while the "sisters" hung out/walked around the quad together...

High fives as the football players walked through the quad...

Waiting on the parade.  And yes, we had a long talk about his clothes that morning, and I quickly realized there was NO reason to change who he is...so...pink socks and all, he is who he is, and we love him for being him!!!

Patiently waiting on the parade to start...

So funny to watch kids at a parade...it's like they have never had a piece of candy or beads before.

As we were walking to the football reception, I turned around and looked at the big group of people walking behind me...15 to 20 years later and it's so fun to see all of us come back together for a day and pick up kind of right where we left off.

And then I made them stop so we could take a picture of the kiddos...this is only a handful of all the kids.

Who knows where our kids will go to college, but Matt and I really enjoyed sharing a place that means so much to us with them.

Just strolling through campus with all our people...

Pretty cool to walk into the field house and see your name hanging on the wall...

There was a reception for the players and their families prior to the football game...

They were recognized on the field between the 1st and 2nd quarter so here they are lining up to walk on the field...

These guys were all a part of the 1997 ASC Championship team...

Was just a special day and so neat that all these guys took time out of their crazy busy schedules to get together.  There were smiles for days and it was obvious they were happy to be back together!

This was Matt's offensive line coach, and still to this day, I will hear him talking about Coach Pope.

Waiting to walk onto the field...

Jerm (in the middle) and his wife, Kirsten, will always hold a special place in my heart...they are the ones that told Matt he would die single if he didn't take me on a date...

And this sweet friend of mine...oh how I wished we lived in the same town and could spend more time together.  Love, love, love her and was so thankful we got to spend a couple hours together.

We didn't start dating until the end of my senior year, but so glad we have so many MC friends/memories that we can share together.

Boys are so fun...they just become friends instantly and can play for days.  Pretty sure they played ALL.DAY.LONG!!!

David hasn't changed one bit...20 years, 5 kids, and he is still the funniest guy!!!  I can hardly look at him without laughing.

Pretty sure we could have sat in a corner and talked and talked and talked...love these college friends of mine and hate we don't get together more often.

Last but not least...I grabbed this picture off of MC's website.  Think it's obvious that the kids had as much fun as their parents yesterday.
