Weekend Getaway...

Although we wouldn't change it for anything, we are like any other couple with kids...our days revolve around our kids and there is little time for us to have "one on one" time together.  And honestly, we miss that...like a lot!!!  So...we asked Nanna to keep the kids for a weekend so we could getaway, and it was just what we needed!!!

We didn't want to spend a ton of money so we kind of had a hard time finding a place to go.  And then a friend suggested Fairhope, and oh my...it was PERFECT!!!

We got to leave work around noon on Friday so we made it to Fairhope in time for dinner  We walked to the pier and enjoyed dinner at Shux's overlooking the bay.

I kept thinking about my mom...she would have loved all these flowers.

We had planned to run Saturday morning, but when we woke up, it was storming.  So...we enjoyed a big breakfast in the hotel and then decided we would just go for a walk if the storm passed. Thankfully the storm passed, and we headed out for a walk...it was such a pretty walk...the houses were huge with these gorgeous driveways/flowers...

It was Matt's idea to walk to the Grand Hotel at Point Clear.  We had debated staying there but the price scared us away so we wanted to see if it was really worth the price.  Well, this was our first look at the property...not bad I must say.

We walked through the resort and made our way to the bay...

And took a little break to sit by the water and swing a few minutes...I mean we just kind of blended in with everyone else at the resort.  And honestly, now that I have seen it, I think it's probably worth the money.

Leaving the Grand Hotel, you had to walk through this covered bridge, and I just love this picture.  And again, the flowers...I'm telling you...the landscape was immaculate everywhere!!!

He's making this face...but really...the 10 mile walk was all his idea. Well, he suggested we walk to the Grand Hotel and back...8 miles or so.  And I was like, you cannot stop at 8 or 9...we got to go to 10!!!

We REALLY love to exercise together so being able to walk 10 miles together was right up our alley and so much fun!!!

Fairhope was the cutest little town and filled with all types of golf carts...

Back at our hotel and officially at the 10 mile mark...

We showered and headed to the French Quarter area and had the best lunch at Panini Pete's...

I just couldn't get over how clean it was and how pretty all the flowers were...

We stayed at the Hampton, which was the only hotel downtown. It was the perfect location...we parked the car on Friday and didn't get in it again until we left Sunday.  We walked everywhere...

Saturday night we made reservations at R Bistro...it was fabulous!!!

Sunday morning we went for a run, had breakfast in the hotel, and then enjoyed lunch before heading back home...

We ate lunch Windmill Market.  We did not have one bad meal the entire time we were there...everything was so good!!!

We had the best most refreshing weekend away, but as always, we were happy to see these faces and thankful Nanna was willing to keep them so we could get away.
