Cheersport Day 1...

Last weekend we went to Atlanta for Cheersport Nationals.  This was by far the biggest cheer competition we had ever been to with Anna Lauren.  Our biggest concern was...did we have a right to be there and could we hang with the big name gyms?  Surprisingly, we did have a right to be there and sat in the middle of the pack, which is all we wanted going into the competition.

We had read cameras were not allowed so on the first day, we only had our phones.  So...not many pictures and yes, I was LOST without my camera!

6:45 AM waiting to go through the security line that didn't open until 7:00 AM...

Yes, it is possible to get them up and dressed with smiles on their faces and leave the hotel at 6:30 AM, which was 5:30 AM in their little bodies.  All because they are doing something they love!

Yes, the competition was huge but it was so organized and well run.  We had no complaints and would gladly go back next year.

The highlight of Day 1 was getting to watch the University of Kentucky compete.  They were AMAZING!  And it was even more fun for us because we had met them over the summer so it was fun to see them again, and several of them remembered Anna Lauren!

After we got done with day 1 of competition, we had lunch at Johnny Rockets and then the girls went swimming in the indoor pool.  It didn't take them long to decide they wanted to do something else so Matt agreed to take them to the ferris wheel.  We just happened to see a giant cookie on the way...

Waiting in line to ride the ferris wheel...Matt is the BEST daddy!

Ferris wheel fun...

If you look real hard, you can see Anna Lauren's tie dyed shirt...

After the ferris wheel ride, we grabbed a quick bite to eat, Anna Lauren swam for a few minutes with some of the girls on her squad, and then she was ready for bed.  She was exhausted and sound asleep before 9 PM.

At the end of day 1, we were tied for 6th out of 12 teams...like I said, all we wanted was middle of the pack.  We could not have been more pleased!
