5th Cheer Competition ~ Cheersport Nationals in Atlanta...

On Wednesday before leaving for Cheersport Friday afternoon, Anna Lauren fell running down a hill at school.  We went through Urgent Care at Mississippi Sports Medicine and were told she either had a bruise, strain, or stress fracture to her navicular bone. They put her in a boot, said she could stunt only, and she would return in a week for an appointment with a specialist.  Right in the middle of competition season, the thing she loves so much, and she is injured. However, she is more mature than me at times...she looked at me and said, "mom, we can cry about this or just deal...it is what it is".

What we didn't discuss at the doctor is that she couldn't actually compete with the boot on...she begged, and begged, and begged to please just let her do it...so we did.  She squatted in the back or side and only came out when time to stunt...

On Saturday (Day 1) she showed no signs of being hurt...

We stayed at Aunt Kelly's house and Anna Lauren was excited that she and Maddy came to watch her on Saturday.

Kennedy is Kelly's niece too, and she competed earlier in the day. Therefore, Kelly and Maddy had a full day of cheer.

Just a singing to their music...

At this point, I had tears in my eyes...I knew she was in PAIN, and I was thinking to myself I made the wrong decision to allow her to compete.

She is SO tough and pushed herself through the routine...

Sunday was bad...she made it through the routine, but she came off the stage in tears.  We finally got her foot elevated, iced, and some ibprofen in her and thankfully she slept all the way home.  We can say she for sure stepped it up for her team and was one tough little girl...Matt and I were so proud of her!
